Halton is a county constituency in Cheshire, represented in the House of Commons of the
Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the
post system of election.
Boundaries
Halton constituency sits on either side of the River Mersey and comprises
Widnes, the original town of Runcorn (with a small part of the
new town) and Hale village. It consists of 14 electoral wards; Hale, Ditton, Riverside, Hough Green, Broadheath, Kingsway,
Birchfield, Farnworth, Appleton, Halton, Mersey, Heath, Grange and Halton Brook.
Boundary Review
Following their review of parliamentary representation in Cheshire, the Boundary Commission for England have made minor changes to the existing arrangement
as a consequence of population changes. The electoral wards used in this modified constituency are;
- Appleton, Birchfield, Broadheath, Castlefields, Ditton, Farnworth, Grange, Hale, Halton Brook, Halton View, Heath, Hough
Green, Kingsway, Mersey and Riverside from the borough
of Halton
